The Beech Tree Inn has evolved from a cluster of former railway cottages into what it is today - a haven of fine food in a country setting.
The cottages were probably built for the Blane Valley Railway, which opened in 1866 from Lennoxtown originally terminated at "Killearn Station", later renamed Dumgoyne. The line was later extended and linked with lines to Aberfoyle, Stirling and Balloch, before being closed to passengers in 1951.
After being owned by the railway, the cottages became a grocers/newsagents in the 1940s, and thereafter a private residence with adjacent antique shop in 1974 / 75. It was then converted to a bar/restaurant by the Gibb Family in 1976 with further additions in the 1980s. Today it is an independently owned small business striving to put the word "customer" back into customer service, aiming to provide the best possible service at all times.
