The Beech Tree Inn wins Healthy Living Award - Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Healthy LivingThe Beech Tree Inn has won a Healthy Living award from the Scottish Consumer Council. Health-conscious visitors and families can now enjoy healthier options and children are particularly well catered for with a wide-ranging kids’ menu offering healthy options as well as the newly extended old favourites menu.

Healthy Living AwardProprietor Lynne Alldritt said: "Since taking over the Beech Tree Inn in 2004, I've made sure the kids' menu has offered healthy choices, and we extended that to the adult menu, We had to tighten up on what we were doing already. In our creamier dishes we switched to using low-fat crème fraiche instead of cream, and we now use low-fat spread instead of butter. We found the process very straightforward. More than fifty percent of our menu is made up of healthyliving dishes, but we offer a wide choice so there is something for everyone, which our customers appreciate."

Healthy Living

Healthy Living Award- what it means.

The 2 main aims of the award are:

  1. Making the food served generally healthier by making broad changes to how food is prepared. Therefore having an impact on all customers regardless of their food choice.

  2. Clearly identifying healthier food choices that have been prepared using both healthier ingredients and cooking methods, which are called healthyliving choices. Thus enabling you to make an informed choice.
